Adichikkavu Sree Durga Devi Kshetram – Pandanad,Alapuzha

Adichikkavu Sree Durga Devi Kshetram is located in Pandanad Village in the Alappuzha district of Kerala.

This temple is dedicated to Vana Durga Devi

It is one of the oldest temples in the region

The other deities on the premises are Yakshiamma, Nagaraja, Nagayakshi and Brahmarakshas

This temple was constructed in the Kerala Style of architecture

The temple complex also includes Anakottil and Sapthaha Mandapam.

The primary attraction is Pathamudayam, held in the temple every April, during the month of Medam. The ten-day festivities begin on Vishu and conclude with late-night festivities on April 23.

Each year Sapthaham celebrates for 7 days with worship and food for devotees.

Women gather yearly in this temple and prepare Pongala in small pots to please the Goddess Durga.

The Parayeduppu is happening in the festival season, before the Pathamudayam. Devi is visiting the homes of the people in the Pandanad area.

Each year 'Navaha Yajnam' celebrates for 9 days with worships and food for devotees.
