Sri Munthi Vinayagar Temple – Coimbatore

 

Sri Munthi Vinayagar Temple is located in the neighborhood of Puliakulam in Coimbatore of Tamilnadu

The temple holds the largest Vinayagar idol in Asia.

The idol of the Lord stands about 20 feet tall and is over 11 feet broad sculpted from a single massive rock by 21 highly skilled sculptors.

The idol is seen sitting on the lotus flower with a pot of nectar which he is having through its trunk.

The idol has 4 hands, one hand holds a piece of Mahabharata writings, the other holds the Angus, one holds jack fruit, and in the other a lotus flower.

Sanakatahara Chaturthi is duly followed in the temple

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated for 10 days in the temple
