Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple - Gandi
Sri Rama thinking about Anjaneya pictured Anjaneya on the rock with his arrow. Sri Rama had left Ayodhya without completing this picture. The picture of lord Anjaneya is complete in all respects except the little finger of Anajneya’s left hand.
In Telugu, Gandi means a narrow valley with a running river. Sri Gandi Veera Anjaneya Swamy temple is facing towards the West direction and was constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture. There are two gopurams with five tiers in West and South directions. The temple Gopuram has images of gods and a lot of animal images. The temple has a Dhwaja Stambham. The image at the feet of lord Anjaneya is that of Udgavi Acharyulu or Gandi Acharyulu. It is he who first constructed the sanctum sanctorum and brought the temple to the notice of the public.
This temple was built during the 19th century.
